Growing up in rural New Hampshire Craig fell in love with the natural world. A former Boy Scout, backcountry ranger in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest, and a ski bum in Vermont, the outdoors is his calling! He has traveled extensively, from Alaska to Argentina, Sicily to South Korea, seeking wild and spectacular landscapes. He ranks Washington State, his home since 1989, among the most beautiful places on the planet and he has thoroughly hiked it, over 32,000 miles worth from Cape Flattery in the NW to Puffer Butte in the SE; Cape Disappointment in the SW to the Salmo-Priest Wilderness in the NE.

Craig is an avid hiker, runner, kayaker, and cyclist, and has written about these passions for over a dozen publications, including; Seattle Met, Backpacker, Paddler, Adventures Northwest, Northwest Runner, AMC Outdoors, and Northwest Travel. Aside from being the content director of Hikeoftheweek.com, Craig is the author of more than 25 book and content provider for the Tread Map App. He is currently working on Urban Trails Vancouver BC (Mountaineers Books); due for release in 2024.

Craig holds the following degrees; an AA in Forestry from White Mountains Community College (NH); and a BA in history and Masters in Education from the University of Washington. He lives with his wife Heather, son Giovanni and cat Beau in Skagit County close to the North Cascades and the San Juan Islands.
